In January I attended the GOP caucus in support of Nikki Haley. I felt she offered a fresh face with a positive look to the future. A fresh face in contrast to former President Donald Trump, who only offers negativity and rants that get crazier and crazier in his old age — rants ranging from an obsession with Hannibal Lecter, compliments for authoritarian leaders, made-up stories of cats and dogs being eaten, and random capitalization on his "Truth Social" posts that would infuriate an elementary school English teacher.
In light of all of this, I am pleased to see many former Republican officials commit to support Vice President Kamala Harris, including Liz and Dick Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and a long list of GOP officials from the Trump and Bush administrations. In fact, over 40% of cabinet members in the Trump administration have declined to endorse him, and all but one former GOP presidential or vice presidential nominee have also declined to endorse him.
Although I don't agree with all of her policies, I know that Kamala Harris supports the rule of law and democracy. In contrast, Donald Trump has worked to avoid the rule of law his whole life, from his business dealings and refusing to pay contractors, to his efforts over the past year to delay and avoid facing a jury. I'll be voting for the Harris-Walz ticket in November as a vote for democracy, sanity, and integrity.
