Rodney "Bones" Boren, 65, passed away on October 16, 2024, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Born on July 11, 1959, Bones was known for his charismatic personality and his eclectic mix of hobbies that included poetry, playing pool, and singing karaoke.
Throughout his life, Bones pursued various careers, enriching each path with
his vibrant character.
He worked as a
truck driver, a karaoke
DJ, and a dump truck driver, bringing joy and entertainment to many along the way.
Bones had a profound impact on those around him, always ready to listen to others' stories and offer help whenever possible. His presence was particularly magnetic in spaces where he could simultaneously showcase his love for pool and karaoke, often seen playing pool one-handed while singing or doling out advice to his opponents.
He is survived by his sister, Linda (Larry) Ryan; daughter, Angela Howrey; son, Dale (Sara) Boren; son Joshuwa (JoAnn) Jones, and stepdaughter, April Lingo.
Bones was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Boren, and his parents, Dale and Leola Boren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2nd at 12 pm at the Union Station, 1724 16th Ave SW. There are no funeral services planned at this time. Rodney "Bones" Boren will be remembered as a man who lived life with passion, a friend to many, who left a lasting mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
