Kathy Rawson, 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on Friday,
Dec. 8, 2017, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Troy Mills Christian Church.
Survivors include four children, Carla (Tom) Reidy and their daughter, Katie (Shaun) Allsup, Scott (Donna) Rawson and their daughter, Kortney (Aaron) Novak, Doug (Khris) Rawson and their children, Keisha (Colton) Cross, Curtis Rawson and Carl Rawson, and Kyle (Stephanie) Rawson and their children, Amber (Nick) Gudenkauf and their daughter, Aubry, Blake Rawson and his daughter, Macie, and Haley Rawson; a bonus grandson, Artie Wessels; and special friends, Judy Rechkemmer and Carol Brislawn.
Also surviving are two brothers, Sam (Alice) Kool and Howard (Janet) Kool; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Kool, Clark Cook, Orlie (Doris) Rawson, Julie (Kevin) Butterfield, Shirley Rawson and Lori (Bill) Schlotfelt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; two sisters; and four brothers.
Kathy was born Nov. 4, 1944, the daughter of Fred and Freida (Hewitt) Kool in Oskaloosa. In September of 1964, she married Carl Rawson in Center Point. He died in January of 2002. After Carl passed away, she worked as a home health care aide.
She was a member of Troy Mills Christian Church. Kathy enjoyed riding in her golf cart and family gatherings, and loved her yard and house in Troy Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the family's charity of choice.
A special thank-you to granddaughter Kortney for the special care she gave to Kathy, and to Dr. Lancaster and Dr. Ghosh and their caring teams.
