An Urbandale man was arrested Monday in Johnson County on charges that he sexually abused a female child continuously over a four-year period and regularly gave her marijuana before abusing her.
Jermeze Lamont Martin, 37, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and drug distribution to a person under 18, both felonies.
The abuse happened in Coralville between August 2020 and June 2024. The child was 12 years old when the abuse started and 15 years old when it stopped, according to a criminal complaint.
A warrant was issued for Martin’s arrest on October first, and he was taken into custody Monday. He had his initial appearance in court Tuesday and is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
