Irene June Stock, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at West Ridge Care Center following a recent illness. Celebration of Life memorial services will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with visitation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and service at 2:30 p.m. Fellowship and refreshments will continue until 5 p.m. Private burial is at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Lauri (Harold) Graham and Jan Rosauer; grandchildren, Hayley, Logan, Matthew and Kristen; sister, Olivia Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding June in death were her husband, Robert; son-in-law, Todd Rosauer; brother-in-law, Calvin Kennedy; her parents; brother; and sister.
June was born June 19, 1932, in Winchester, England, the daughter of Alfred and Mabel (Wells) Readings. She attended Chailey Heritage Boarding School in Chailey, Sussex, England. During World War II, June's sister met her husband, Calvin Kennedy. In December 1953, June came to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth II to join her sister and brother-in-law in Cedar Rapids. On Aug. 17, 1957, June married Robert Stock in Bettendorf, Iowa.
June worked at Haldy's Beauty Supply when she first came to Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Women of Other Nations and the Indoor Sports Club. June proudly obtained her United States citizenship in 1980. She devoted her life to selflessness and support of her family and friends. Her strength and determination helped her live an amazing life filled with spreading joy to others. June loved her family, especially her grandchildren, above all else. She enjoyed music, concerts, dogs, being outside, traveling, spending time with family, and all things English.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family to be used for a memorial at West Ridge Care Center.
