Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha conducted by Father Mark Reasoner. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until funeral Mass on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Beuna was born Oct. 5, 1914, on the family farm in Britt, Iowa. She left school in eighth grade to help in Britt Sugar Beet fields and other farm work. She met her husband, John, at a barn dance and they were married in Britt on June 25, 1935. They soon moved to Cedar Rapids and started their family. Beuna worked with John to farm their land, care for their garden and fruit trees and raise their family. She was an excellent cook, baker, quilter and rug maker. Beuna enjoyed all the family, her neighbors and loved horses. They liked to travel and always took their daughters or grandchildren on trips with them. Beuna was a member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was still making rolls, kolaches, pies and jam when she was in her 90s. Beuna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always had "snacks" when anyone came to visit. She was blessed with a long and full life and will be missed by her large, wonderful family. Beuna is survived by her two daughters, Jeanette Hamilton and Joyce M. Wright, both of Marion; nine grandchildren, Dennis (Debbie) Hamilton, Doug (Jane) Hamilton, Angie (Jim) Watt, Chris (Brenda) Hamilton, Bruce (Barb) Hamilton, Andy Hamilton, Justine Griffin, Tracy (Rod) Hansen and John (Michelle) Grimm; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, (1997); her parents, Alma and Vallie (Heimendinger) Schoneman; her grandsons, Charles Hamilton and Jeff Hamilton; sons-in-law, Richard Hamilton and Bob Wright; her devoted brother, Vern Schoneman; and sister-in-law, Jean Schoneman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Hospice of Mercy or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Beuna's memory.
