Ric Allen Klingler, 71, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 12 - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, where a Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m.
Ric was born on November 19, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of George and Bette (Larson) Klingler. He was a 1971 graduate of Marion High School and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. On December 27, 1998, Ric was united in marriage to Julie Ann Knott in Marion. Together with his brother, Marty, he owned and operated Klingler Painting and Decorating.
He loved fishing, golfing, and making pottery. Ric fished many different waters, from local rivers to Canada lakes, as well as fishing off the coast of Florida. He was most content when he was on the water and in nature. Ric had an immense love for music. He could identify songs after hearing just a few notes. He had the ability of making his friends and family laugh with his many embellished stories that only Ric could tell. His smile and expressions could hook a fish as well as make many friends.
Ric will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His generous spirit and kindness will be fondly remembered.
Ric is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Knott-Klingler; two children, Lea Howell of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leif (Victoria) Hansen of San Diego, California; sister, Paige (Kurt) Anderson of Beaver Creek, Colorado; and brother, Marty (Paulette “Sissy”) Klingler of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials in Ric’s memory may be directed to the Nature Conservancy and/or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
