Charles Ray “Chuck” Fritz, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at his home. A celebration of life will be hosted by the family on a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Chuck was born January 29, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Virgel “Bud” and Melsena (Spicer) Fritz, Jr. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1975 – 1978. Chuck was a self-employed handyman retiring in 2016. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
Survivors include his children, Brian (Jennie) Fritz, Allen (Rebecca) Fritz, all of Cedar Rapids, Christine BillyJo (Travis) Newman of Marion, Iowa, Tabatha “Tabbie” (Troy) Hiatt of Des Moines, Iowa, James Dean (Heather) Fritz, Anthony Fritz, all of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Brittny Byrnes, New Albin, Iowa; sister, C. Joan McGaffic of New Braunfels, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgel “Bud” and Melsena; siblings, Patricia “Patti” Fritz, Merle “Tootie” (Don) Geiger, Martin (Linda) Fritz, Virgel “Bud” (Cindy) Fritz, Jr., and Penny (Randy) Trask; and brother-in-law, Paul McGaffic.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Brian Fritz to help cover costs.
