One dead in Linn County crash

CEDAR RAPIDS — One person died early Wednesday after a single-vehicle crash near Palo, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were called at 2:08 a.m. Wednesday to the crash at Covington Road and Chain Bridge Road, where they found a car that had rolled and caught on fire, a news release states. The car had been going south on Covington Road when it left the road and rolled into a ditch.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
