Karen Mae (Barnes) Gilbertson, 84, of Robins, Iowa departed to her eternal home on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Karen was born March 1, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Shannon) Barnes. She was raised in Cedar Rapids and was the youngest of eight children. Karen was in the first graduating class of Jefferson High School and worked at Rockwell Collins for over 35 years. She married the love of her life, Carl Gilbertson, on June 18, 1960. She was a long-time member of Faith Bible Church. Together they built a house and raised a family in Robins where they resided until recently. Beautiful flower gardens, huge family dinners, and loving on her grandchildren were what she did best!
Those left to cherish Karen’s memory are her husband of 64 years Carl, her children, Dave (Sandy), Robin (Steve), and Kevin (Ann); grandchildren, Ryan (Jill), Aryn, Andrew (Kaityn), Leah (Toby), Katie (Paul), Emily (Austin), Carlie, and Cameron; six great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ian, Tatum, Everly, Jonah, and Holland. Karen will be extremely missed and never forgotten.
