Mark Clark, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Oct. 4th, 2024, due to complications after surgery. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Mark was born on September 1st, 1947, to Andrew Lingle Clark and Grace Leona Wilde in Cedar Rapids.
Mark graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1965 and worked at Collins Radio for a short time before enlisting in the United States Army in April of 1966. He was deployed to Vietnam and served in Panama and Germany before his Honorable Discharge in April of 1972 when he returned to Iowa and worked in sales and construction.
In February of 1978, Mark was wed to Patricia Richardson and welcomed a son, Todd, in May of 1979.
They moved to Corpus Christ, TX in 1981 and followed jobs to Austin, TX, St. Louis, MO, Madison, AL, and Manchester, NH until their retirement in 2016 when they returned to Cedar Rapids.
Mark is survived by his wife, Patricia Clark (Cedar Rapids), son Todd Clark (Cedar Rapids), sister Karen Fiala (Ely), brothers James Clark (Cedar Rapids), Will Clark (Georgetown, TX), Glen Clark (Galena, IL), brother in-law and sister in-law Ronald and Judy Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Jo Clark Ingersoll.
Mark was quick witted with a dry sense of humor enjoyed by his friends and family. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, cards, home improvement projects, gardening, and was an avid reader.
Special thanks to the staff of the ICU at the Iowa City VA Hospital and Chaplain Randy Langner for support with many prayers, visits and stories.
