Constance “Connie” Corcoran, 91, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 8 at Mercy/University Hospital in Iowa City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 18, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 17, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Corcoran family. Memorials will be donated to Dementia Research.
Connie was born January 5, 1933 in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of C.W. (Clem) and Kathleen (O’Leary) Crahan. She was raised in Oelwein and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She also attended Clarke College in Dubuque. On August 11, 1956 Connie married James “Jim” Corcoran in Oelwein, Iowa, at Sacred Heart church.
In 1963 they moved to Iowa City and were members of St. Thomas More Church and later St. Mary’s Church, where Connie was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a past member of the Johnson County Election Board. with family.
Connie was an avid Hawkeye fan. Connie really enjoyed all sports, especially Hawkeye football and Men’s and Women’s basketball. She also became a fan of the Indiana Fever with Caitlin Clark.
Connie is survived by her husband, Jim of North Liberty and their children, Kim Corcoran of North Liberty, Kathleen Corcoran (Burl) Matthes of Solon, Tim “TJ” (Laurie) Corcoran of Des Moines, and Michael Corcoran of North Liberty; her sister, Bette Tompkins of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and extended family.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Amy Jo; her brother, Mike Crahan and sister Mary Carney; and in-laws, John Carney, Mary Crahan, Larry Tompkins.
