John Cyril Schulte, 80, of Walford, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, in Cedar Rapids. Burial to follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family.
John was born on March 15, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Cyril Henry and Barbara (Erusha) Schulte. He attended Monroe #4, one room school, and later graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, Class of 1962. John married Jolene Hayward on April 15, 1967, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Goss Manufacturing and owned and operated Schulte Rentals for many years. He enjoyed farming, tending to his cattle, and most of all spending time with his loving family.
John is survived by his wife Jolene; his daughter Melissa Schulte; his granddaughter Kalyssa Schulte and grandson KeSean John Cyril Schulte; and great-granddaughter Kharty Jo Schulte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother-in-law Ray and Cathryn Hayward.
