Donna M. Smith, 89, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Private family services will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Winthrop. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Donna was born on February 14, 1935, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Neidy) Hearn. She graduated from Independence High School in 1952. Donna was united in marriage to Chester A. Smith in 1978. She worked at Colonial Bakery and New York Life Insurance Company until she retired. Following, she was a nanny for many years in Cedar Rapids and Sun City, Arizona. Donna enjoyed traveling, biking, swimming, living in Arizona, square dancing, RV trips with Chet, and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She lived a full, happy life and will be greatly missed.
Donna is survived by her grandchildren Nichole (Zach) Martin, Aaron (Valerie) Ford, Amelia Ford, Troy Armstrong, Sean (Haylee) Armstrong, Rachel (Austin) Black, Alex (Kelli) Ford; fourteen great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Cynthia Armstrong; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester Smith, her son Paul Armstrong, her daughter Pam Johnston, and her siblings.
