Randy L. Speake, age 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at his home in Vinton with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Randy’s life for friends and family will be held in Western Iowa at a later date. The family suggests planting a tree in Randy’s memory.
Randy was born August 8, 1961, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, the son of Herbert “Lyle” and Barbara Ann (Dillinger) Speake. He graduated from Woodbine High School, and Iowa Christian College in Des Moines with a BA degree. He worked in retail at Target in Cedar Rapids for many years and was currently employed by Drive Line.
Randy held a strong faith and was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. He was passionate about overseas missionary work, and was a trustee for African Christian Missions. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and enjoyed watching soccer. Randy truly loved his family, and was a devoted son, brother, and uncle,
He is survived by his mother Barbara of Vinton; his siblings, Kent Speake of Vinton, Wanda Speake of Valparaiso, IN, Teresa Bisig of Vinton; two nieces, Hilary Mahoney of Cedar Rapids, Larissa (Dylan) Mendieta of Vinton; nephew, Dillon Bisig of Cedar Rapids; and his great-nephew Jameson Mendieta.
He was preceded in death by his father.
