Julia Margaret Chalupsky, 87, Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation 9:00 am Tuesday, October 8, 2024, until the 10:00 am Funeral Mass to be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating. Interment will be held privately at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held 2:00 pm at Parlor City Pub and Eatery, 1125 3rd St. SE.
Judy was born December 1, 1936, in Cedar Rapids to Joseph and Mae (Weldon) George. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Cedar Rapids. Judy met the love of her life, Clayton Chalupsky, when they both worked at Link-Belt Speeder Co.
Clay and Judy were united in marriage on August 13, 1960, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and were married for 52 years. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was loved by all.
While her children were in school, Judy was a devoted stay-at-home mom. She worked several positions in retail and real estate in succeeding years until her retirement. Judy was guided by her steadfast Catholic faith throughout her entire life. May she rest in God’s eternal mercy and love.
Judy is survived by her three children, Valerie Jelinek, Lynne DeVore and Hal (Linda) Chalupsky; son-in-law Jon Jelinek; grandchildren, Benjamin (Katrina) Jelinek, Madison Jelinek, Marcus DeVore, Allison DeVore, Clayton W. (Frankie) Chalupsky and Caralyn Chalupsky; sister, Patti Hardman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay; infant son, Martin; grandson, Sam Jelinek; son-in-law, Scott DeVore; her parents; siblings, Joseph George, Ginger Church, and Dorothy George.
Memorial donations may be given to All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
