Russell Henry "Bud" Rigdon, Jr passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the age of 84.
Born in Waterloo, IA on May 15, 1940, he spent his early years growing up on a farm in Dunkerton, IA. He graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1958, where he was an all-conference basketball player. After graduation he joined the Air Force and was a Morse Code Operator at bases in Taiwan and Turkey. Upon returning home he married Mary Brown on September 29, 1962, and started their family. They settled in Cedar Rapids, IA and he started working at Wilson's Packing House and Clean Towel Service. He eventually became the owner-operator of Brite Way Window Cleaning Service, which he ran for 40+ years. He trained numerous people in the window cleaning trade and helped them start their own businesses in many cities across the United States. He was a member and deacon of the Worldwide Church of God, active in Alcoholics Anonymous, studied a Course in Miracles, and helped a lot of people along the way. He tried to live his life One Day at a Time.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Mary (Brown) Rigdon, his parents Russell Rigdon Sr. and Harriet (Brown) Rigdon, and four brothers Irwin
Rigdon, Jim Rigdon, Duane Rigdon and John Rigdon.
He is survived by his sister Linda (Don) Shatzer and brother Jerry (Lois) Rigdon, four children, Kevin (Susan) Rigdon, Kent (Jennifer) Rigdon, Julie
(Dan) Halse, Russell Rigdon III, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family will be gathering for a private celebration of life and his memorial will be at the Old Barclay Cemetery in Dunkerton, IA.
