Police investigate assault outside Iowa City high school

Iowa City police are asking the public to help it investigate a report Monday night of an assault outside West High School.
According to a news release, officers received a report of an assault that occurred about 6:55 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of West High School, 2901 Melrose Ave. A high school-aged girl said she was approached from behind and assaulted by a male.
Police asked that anyone with information on this incident contact Det. Gabe Cook at Cook@iowa-city.org.
