Donald "Donnie" J. Davis, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha from complications of a stroke. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A memorial service will follow beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Lori Wunder. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Donald was born Oct. 6, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, the son of John and Maryella (Duncan) Davis. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School. For most of his life Donnie was involved in sales and, most recently, worked for Junge Ford in Center Point until retiring several years ago. Donnie was a friend of Bill W. for over 31 years, and was a faithful servant at the Marion Industrial Club, helping many, many people in those 31 years.
He is survived by his brother, Brian Davis of Columbus Junction, Iowa; sister, Rozanne (Larry) Petrick of Fairfax, Iowa; nieces, Joanee, Wendy and Raquel; nephews, Scott, Randy and Troy; and many close friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Donnie's memory.
