IOWA CITY — Iowa football has scheduled a game with Albany in 2025 while moving its scheduled game with Florida Atlantic from 2025 to 2030, the team announced Monday in a news release.
The Albany game will be on Aug. 30. Iowa then has games against Iowa State on Sept. 6 and UMass on Sept. 13. The game against UMass was originally scheduled for Nov. 15, but the teams amended the contract earlier this year.
Iowa’s home Big Ten opponents in 2025 will be Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oregon and Penn State. Iowa’s road opponents will be Nebraska, Rutgers, USC and Wisconsin. Dates for the 2025 Big Ten schedule will be announced later this fall, according to the release.
Iowa was supposed to pay Florida Atlantic $1.6 million for the 2025 game. It will instead pay $650,000 after the 2025 season and $1.4 million after the 2030 season “in consideration of the visiting institution agreeing to change the date of the contest,” according to the contract obtained by The Gazette via an open records request.
Albany will receive $500,000 for playing at Iowa in 2025. The Great Danes compete at the FCS level and are 1-3 so far in 2024.
The Hawkeyes’ future nonconference schedules are below:
2025: Albany (Aug. 30), Iowa State (Sept. 6), UMass (Sept. 13)
2026: Northern Illinois (Sept. 5), Iowa State (Sept. 12), UNI (Sept. 19)
2027: Ball State (Sept. 4), at Iowa State (Sept. 11)
2028: Western Michigan (Sept. 16)
2029: Northern Illinois (Sept. 15)
2030: Florida Atlantic (Aug. 31)
