Rev. Joseph Michael Pusateri, “Joe Mike”, Passed away September 14, 2024. Born in Iowa City, IA on June 23, 1939 to Gus and Anna (Cira) Pusateri, In 1953 Joe left Iowa City for St. Mary’s Manor in Penndel, PA for high school and junior college
Graduated from Catholic University of America in 1966 with a BA in Philosophy, and a Master of Science degree in Library Science in 1967. He was ordained a Priest into the Society of Mary (Marist) in January 1966 in Washington DC.
From 1966-2004 Joe served as a Missionary Priest in the South Pacific primarily in the Samoan & Fijian Islands. In 2004 Joe retired to Florida and later the St. Louis MO area.
In high school Joe was active in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved his Eagle Scout award.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Anna, brother-in-law Lynne Strabala, niece Mary Lynne Strabala, and great-niece Sandi Schommer
Joe is survived by his sister Mary Anne Strabala, nieces Martha (Pete) Schommer, Eileen (Lester) Strabala-Backus, nephews Jeff (Janette) Strabala and Chris (Jackie) Strabala, 11 great-nieces and -nephews and 11 great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be September 28, 2024. Interment at the Marist Cemetery in Washington DC.
