Robert L. Brunscheen, age 68, passed away at Unity Point St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 7, 2018. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Visitation also will be at Trinity on Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. Private family burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery.
Robert was born on Sept. 4, 1949, to Alvin and Bernice Schrader Brunscheen in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Sandra Norton on Nov. 25, 1967, also in Anamosa.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice of Mechanicsville; wife, Sandra; sons, Jeff (Karen) of Ely, Dain (Missy) of Cedar Rapids and Diek (Morgan) of Marion; grandchildren, Zach, Daniel, Jordyn and Emily Brunscheen, Andrew (Nicole), Dillon (Haley) and Drake Brunscheen, and Tyler Carmer, Kelsey Carmer, Dexter and Brady Brunscheen; great-grandsons, Jaxton and Colton; brothers, Bill (Cheryl) of Solon and Scott (Karen) of Des Moines; and sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Herren of Polk City, Iowa, and Connie (Jon) Buss of Ames.
Robert was a truck driver (transportation engineer) all his life, and was recognized in May of 2017 for 50 years in the trucking industry. His faith and family were important to him, as was his saying for people to be kind to one another.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Sandra Roseberry.
The family would like to thank the hospice staff at St. Luke's for the outstanding care given to Robert.
