Kelly Darlene Heck, 65, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Kelly’s life will be held from 1 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the American Legion, located at 6 Central City Road in Central City. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Kelly was born on June 3, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Harold and Shirley (Myers) Hills. She was a 1977 graduate of Central City High School. On June 9, 1979, Kelly was united in marriage to Bruce Parker Heck in Ryan, Iowa. To this union, two daughters were born. She worked as a Dietary Cook for The Villages for many years, until her retirement. Kelly was an avid gardener and a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, for both the men’s and women’s sports, especially football. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kelly is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Bruce Heck of Central City; two daughters, Danielle (Bill) Tyne of Cedar Rapids, and Jamie Vanis of Anamosa, Iowa; two grandchildren, Skyler Tyne and Vincent Vanis; and one brother, Ed Hills of Central City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steven “Doug” Hills.
