MAUREEN (HOUSE) RUTHERFORD
Estherville
Maureen (House) Rutherford was born on June 24, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Emmanuel and Vlasta (Rohlena) House. She graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids and then attended Paris Academy of Beauty. On Nov. 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Lanny Rutherford in Fairfax, Iowa. Maureen passed away on Jan. 6, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Estherville.
Maureen was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville and a member of the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary 676. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, dancing, cooking and spending time with her grandkids, great-grandchildren and the kids at ILCC. Her favorite times were spent on long car rides with Lanny.
Maureen is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sisters, Janette House of Des Moines and Donna (Pat) Bresnahan of Waukon.
Maureen is preceded in death by her husband; her dad, who passed away during World War II who she never got to meet; her mother; her stepfather, Robert Smahel; son-in-law, Mike Olson; and her parents-in-law, Raymond and Rose Rutherford.
