Dean Harlane Wilson, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, with an additional visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester with the Reverend Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial with Military Honors is at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Dyersville, Iowa. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Dean was born on December 26, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edward and Cassandra (Green) Wilson. Dean entered into the United States Navy where he proudly served our country. Dean married Josephine “JoAnn” Spielman at Mission Delores Basilica, San Francisco, California while he was active in the service. After the service he took computer classes at New Horizons Learning Center in Hiawatha and worked as a Machinist at Rockwell Goss for many years retiring in 2004. Dean was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting in the spring.
Dean is survived by his son, Jon (Teresa Baartman) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son-in-law, Gerald Brighton; and daughter-in-law, Becky Wilson; seven grandchildren, Chauncey Wilson, Cassie Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Carrie Klocek, Tiffany Rognes, Hillary Brighton, and Dominic Wilson; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Cassie Wilson; wife, JoAnn Wilson; children, Dean Wilson Jr., JoDean “Jody” Brighton; grandson, Tyler Brighton; seven brothers, Ed, Steve, Andy, Blaine, Larry, Dick, Don; and five sisters, Louise, Irene, Betty, Cory, and Carol.
