Hazel L. Eastwood, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at her home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton, with the Rev. Jessica Crane-Munoz officiating. Visitation will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Family Center. Interment will be held at Salem Cemetery near Van Horne.
Hazel was born April 10, 1933, in Ladora, Iowa, to Ernest and Martha (Hoover) Seeman. On Aug. 30, 1968, she was united in marriage to James LeRoy Eastwood Sr. at Rock Island, Ill. Jim preceded Hazel in death in 2011.
Hazel worked at Fannie Farmer and later as an assembler at Dearborn Brass in Cedar Rapids. In later years, she was a loving caregiver to her husband, Jim.
Hazel was an active member of Mount Auburn American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered for HAACAP for many years and enjoyed card clubs and crafts. She was also an active member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandkids.
Hazel is survived by her son, James L. (Mandy) Eastwood Jr. of Vinton; her daughter, Dixie (Wayne) Davis of Fayette; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and her sister, Bea Payton of Vinton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Memorials can be given to senior meals at HAACAP in Vinton.
