Russell Dwayne Augspurger, 93 of Marion, IA, passed away September 12, 2024, surrounded by family. In agreement with his wishes, there will be no services. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Mausoleum Columbarium.
Dwayne was born on December 14, 1930, in Pulaski, IA to Russell and Nellie (Bohi) Augspurger. He received a Finance Degree from the University of Iowa. He then spent three years serving in the US Army deployed to Korea during the Korean War. He married Betty Gross in 1961 and moved to Marion, becoming life-long residents. As CFO of CIPCO, Dwayne retired in 1995, ending a 33-year career.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Byron, Roger and Keith Augspurger, and his wife of 34 years, Betty. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Bagwell (Scott) of San Antonio and Susan Basquin (Steve) of Hiawatha, one brother, Arden Augspurger of Van Meter, a sister, Rosemarie Brehm of Clifton Springs, NY, and six grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud: Alec and Skylar Bagwell of San Antonio, and Andrew, Payton, Avery and Logan Basquin of Hiawatha.
A quiet, humble man, Dwayne’s favorite pastimes were cross country road trips, playing Scrabble, and listening to Jazz. He could be seen in the stands cheering for the champion Kirkwood Women’s Basketball Team.
