Susan Marie (Mikulas) Kimble, 57, of Cedar Rapids, entered into heaven peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the care of the hospice team at Mercy Cedar Rapids, following a short battle with uterine cancer. There will be a celebration of her life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at St. Patrick's church in Cedar Rapids. Mass will be at 10:00 am, with a luncheon immediately following in the parish center.
Susan was born on December 12, 1966, in Sylmar, California to Kenneth and Patricia (Ward) Mikulas. Growing up she participated in Bluebirds, delivered the Penny Saver, and was a flutist in the Jefferson Band of Blue. Susan graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1985 and went on to earn her accounting degree from Kirkwood Community College. She began working at Kmart while in high school and worked there for several years. She then worked alongside her dad at Iowa Precision until becoming a stay-at-home mom to four amazing children. Susan was a member of St. Patrick's parish, enjoyed reading, watching the Magnolia Network, and scrapbooking family memories and milestones.
Survivors include: her children, Elijah, Hailey, Jordan and Gabriella; brother Barry Mikulas; sister Beth Mikulas; niece Lexi (Cameron) Mikulas, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country.
Susan will be remembered for her holiday hosting, creativity, willingness to help anyone, and always putting others before herself. Her loving legacy will live on in all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Ken and Pat, aunts, uncles, cousin and friends, who were all waiting to welcome her to heaven.
Memorials will be directed to her children.
