Marilyn Marie Loerke, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 7, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, after six brief days in hospice. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A private graveside service will be held at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Marilyn was born March 9, 1931, to Leo and Eunice Gulick from Dysart, Iowa. Marilyn married her sweetheart, Beryl William Bendull on June 12, 1949. To this union they had three daughters: Sheryl VanWinkle of New Mexico, Marcia Adatto of Ecuador, and Janet (Brian) Hansen of Cedar Rapids.
Surviving Marilyn are her three daughters; her grandson whom she loved dearly, Brian Keeler, and his girlfriend, Ericka Busta; also, step grandsons, Chris, Aaron, and Ethan (Cherokee) Hansen; and her nieces, Teresa (Eric) Court and Kathy Shadrick.
Preceding Marilyn was her first husband, Beryl, who passed away in September of 1973 in his early 40’s; her second husband, Darell Loerke, who passed in 2019; her close sister, Helen Collins, who also passed in 2019; and three nieces, Gloria McElroy, Carol Berger, and Linda Lovell.
Marilyn will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Heartfelt thanks to Hospice House of Mercy for their wonderful care and comfort during her brief stay. Also to Northbrook Manor for her care for the past five months there.
