James LaVern Brown Jr., 89, of Fairfax, died Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Solon Healthcare Center. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Walford Community Center, Saturday, September 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Beverly; two sons, James (Sherayl) Brown of Walford, and Bruce (Kim) Brown of Homestead; daughter, Tracy (Scott) Voelker of Norway; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Hardin.
James was born on July 7, 1935, in Maynard, son of James and Dorothy Wittenberg Brown, Sr. He graduated in 1952 from Maynard High School and married, Beverly Frieden on July 25, 1954, in Nashua. James worked in truck equipment sales and was co-owner of Star Engineering for many years, until his retirement 1987.
James enjoyed race cars, driving trucks, and running the Hawkeye Downs racetrack for several years. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and Sparky, and could always be found tinkering on a project.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Solon Healthcare Center.
