IOWA CITY — Iowa wide receiver Seth Anderson is not expected to play Saturday against Iowa State as he continues to recover from an injury, head coach Kirk Ferentz told reporters on Tuesday.
Anderson’s injury from last Wednesday is “not as bad maybe as we thought initially,” Ferentz said.
“It doesn’t look as bad right now,” Ferentz said. “We’ll probably know more by the end of the week, but it won’t be this week. Hopefully we’re talking about a week or two, not multiple weeks.”
Anderson was the only player listed as out on the Big Ten-mandated pregame availability report for the Week 1 win over Illinois State.
Running back Jaziun Patterson also missed Saturday’s game against Illinois State, but Ferentz said that “was a coach’s decision to keep him out.”
“He was back with us yesterday, and we expect him to be ready to roll this week,” Ferentz said. “Great young guy. Just something we decided to do.”
Wide receiver Kaleb Brown and offensive lineman Cade Borud are returning this week after their one-game suspensions for OWI arrests over the summer. Brown is listed as a second-team wide receiver.
“He's back in the rotation now, and he'll be out there Saturday,” Ferentz said. “I don't know how much, but he'll be out there.”
