THADDEUS "TED" JAMES KATZMARK

Thaddeus "Ted" James Katzmark, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial:
1 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Coggon. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and Monday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Ted is survived by his wife, Sally; a daughter, Mary (William) Henderson of Central City; two sons, James (Jan) of Denton, Texas, and John of Marion; three grandchildren, Brian (Kristen) Jerome, Alicia (Doug) Nellans and Sydney Katzmark; five great-grandchildren, Thomas, Autumn and Bianca Jerome, and Dean and Barrett Nellans; two sisters, Jean (Rolland Roghers) Collette of Onalaska, Wis., and Mary Ellen (James) Doran of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; three brothers, Peter Katzmark of Vista, Calif., Paul (Judy) Katzmark of Southbury, Conn., and Jack (Debby) Katzmark of Mendota Heights, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Walter (Glennda) Murphy of New Hampton and Thomas Murphy of Caledonia, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Laurie (James) Davis of Charles City.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Genevieve Katzmark; parents-in-law, Gerald and Loretta Murphy; and in-laws, Edwin and Susan Koezly and Angela Murphy.
Ted was born on Jan. 26, 1936, in Chicago, the son of Paul and Genevieve Johnson Katzmark. He married Sally Murphy on June 28, 1958, in New Hampton. He was a manufacturer's representative for the US Pipe Co., and had served in the Illinois National Guard.
Ted was an avid watcher of the financial markets, and enjoyed the Antique Road Show. He was very knowledgeable as a coin collector and of antiques.
