DUANE LA RUE SEAMAN

Duane La Rue Seaman, 89, of Walker, passed from this life on Dec. 2, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at United Methodist Church in Walker. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Born on March 8, 1928, in Vernon County, Ontario, Wis., he was the first born to Claude and Leah Seaman. The family farmed in Hay Valley and later in Winchel Valley, Wis. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served for 18 months in the Korean War. Being the war was over, he then returned and finished three more years at the university. He then became an industrial engineer. On May 30, 1953, Duane married Darlene Mortensen at Mount Pisgah Church in Ontario, Wis. They lived in several different states before settling in Walker, where he farmed for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion Ray Post 376 in Walker for 44 years.
Survivors include his loving, devoted wife, Darlene; daughter, Mona (Roy) Blair of Walker; and son, Dale (Annette) Seaman of Silverbay, Minn. He enjoyed four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelley) Reierson and children, Kylie, Kaley, Kelby and Jeremy Dean; Jennifer (Kenneth) Reierson Mims and children, Dalton, Gabriella, Olivia and Kinzlee La Rue; Megan (Dakota) Blair and child, Jersey, all of Walker; and Brittney (Steven) Van Arsdale and children, Mya and Steven of Cedar Rapids; along with many nieces and nephews and many others who thought of him as grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Beulah; and his brother, George (Bill).
