DARLENE JUNE MARIE MORRIS
Lamont
Darlene June Marie Morris, 91, of Strawberry Point, formerly of Lamont, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.
She was born May 14, 1926, in rural Arlington, the daughter of Fred S. and Leta (Fink) Dexter. She graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1943. On Feb. 16, 1946, Darlene was united in marriage to Arthur "Art" Morris at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point. Three children were born to this union. Together the couple farmed the Morris Family Farm south of Lamont for 60-plus years. Art passed away July 3, 2007. Darlene remained on the farm until 2014, when she moved to the Gernand Center in Strawberry Point.
A typical farm wife, Darlene cared for her family and worked alongside her husband. She was a Farm Bureau member, a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lamont, a Thrivent leader and an active fund raiser for others in need.
Darlene is survived by her children, Marietha Ann (Carl) Poole of Lamont and Marlin Scott (Naomi) Morris of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, James Poole, Scott Morris, Erik Morris and Rachel Morris; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Donna Crow of Lamont.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art; a son, Marty, in 1970; a stepbrother, Frank Dickens; and a brother-in-law, William Crow.
