One found with gunshot wound in Morgan Creek Park

One person was found injured with a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning in Linn County’s Morgan Creek Park, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office, along with the Cedar Rapids police and fire departments and Area Ambulance, responded to the park at about 1:40 a.m. for a report of a person shot, the release states.

They found a female with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Information about the victim’s age and identity was not included in the release.

The shooting remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement does not believe there is a risk to the public.
