A Hannibal, Mo., man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he shot into a crowd of people in Iowa City last month.
Brandon Leeman Juniel, 29, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, participating in a riot, going armed with intent, control of a firearm by a felon, and reckless use of a firearm.
According to criminal complaints, Juniel and his girlfriend got into a fight with another person at the Ped Mall on July 20.
Juniel left the area after the fight, and came back with a gun that he shot multiple times in “a crowded public space,” the complaints state.
People dispersed and no one was hit by gunfire. The shots caused some property damage, but the complaints don’t specify what was hit or how badly it was damaged.
A warrant was issued for Juniel’s arrest on July 29, and he was taken into custody Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, information about his bond was not yet available.
