CEDAR RAPIDS — Bullets fired Saturday night in an exchange between occupants of two cars struck three homes, ruptured a gas line and hit a resident in the foot, police said.
Cedar Rapids police are asking anyone who has information about the shooting — or video — to call investigators at (319) 286-5491.
Police responded about 11:13 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Third Avenue SW after callers reported people shooting at each other out of two vehicles.
An occupant of a nearby home, who police believe was not involved in the shooting, suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the foot. According to a Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman, the injured person was inside a residence when shot.
Two vehicles and three homes were hit by gunfire, a news release states.
The Cedar Rapids Fire Department was also called to the scene to shut down a gas line after police discovered a pipe had been hit by the gunfire.
Police are still investigating the shooting and no arrests have been announced.
