Russell W. Nelson, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. Following his wishes, there will be no service, private family burial will be held on a later date at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Russell was born February 15, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Hardy and Annabelle (Moritz) Nelson. He worked various jobs in lawn care and gardening and enjoyed going fishing.
Survivors include his siblings, Sheila (John) Gillick of Fairbault, Minnesota, Diana Thomsen and Richard (Betty) Nelson, both of Cedar Rapids, and Robert (Ali) Nelson of Mankato, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randy Nelson; and grandparents, William and Theresa Moritz.
The family would like to the thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s 6th floor, Northbrook Manor, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care.
