Mary Lou (Musser) Moffitt, 85 of Fort Worth, Texas, died Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Fort Worth Texas. She requested to be cremated.
Mary Lou Klopp was born September 29, 1938, in Cedar Rapids to Arthur and Fern Klopp. She was the youngest of 3 children and graduated from Franklin High School. She enjoyed bowling and it was there she first met her husband. She married Ed Musser on September 1, 1961. Mary Lou worked 20 years as a machinist at Turner Microphone and 20 years at Norand until her retirement in 2000. After her husband died, she worked part time at Mercy Medical Center Emergency room assisting patients and staff for a few years.
In 2010, her old high school boyfriend, Richard Moffitt, contacted her and they rekindled their romance. She married Richard Moffitt on January 11, 2011. In 2016 her daughter Janine and son-in-law Eric asked her and Richard to move with them to Fort Worth.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter Julie Allen of Hochatown, GA; daughter Janine and son-in-law Eric of Fort Worth, TX, sister Arlene LeClere of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law Tillie Albertson of Cedar Rapids and granddaughter Kristin Saucedo and her husband Frank Saucedo of Dallas, TX; grandson Justin and his wife, Andrea Wasson of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren Dexter, Amelia, and Ophelia Wasson and adopted grandchildren Mikayla Bowen and Andrew Bowen. She has many nieces, nephews, and friends still in the Cedar Rapids area.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Musser in 2001; 2nd husband Richard Moffitt in 2020; her parents; brother, Robert Klopp; sister-in-law Joy Klopp; brother-in-law Dwight Leclere; brother-in-law Warren Smith, brother-in-law, Tom Albertson, and son-in-law, James Allen.
Mary Lou was a person who was always giving and loved animals. In her last few years, her favorite past times were trip to the casino and spoiling her daughter’s dog Yadi with treats.
