IOWA CITY — Former Iowa football All-American offensive lineman Don Suchy died earlier this month at age 93, the team announced Friday via a news release.
Suchy was a co-captain on the 1956 Iowa team that claimed a Big Ten title and won the Rose Bowl for the first time in program history.
The Belle Plaine native was a second-team All-American and first-team all-Big Ten honoree in 1956. He was a three-time letterwinner under coach Forest Evashevski. Away from football, he was a United States Navy veteran.
