Tonie Duwayne Wheeler, 76, of Walker, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Unity Point Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Church in Center Point on Saturday, August 24th at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kevin Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Davis Cemetery in rural Walker.
Tonie was born June 4, 1948, in Urbana, Iowa, the son of Kenneth L. and Marian Gertrude “Gertie” (Cross) Wheeler. Tonie was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Yeager on November 12, 1966. Tonie was a classic car enthusiast and a carpenter by trade.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Wheeler, Walker; children, Roxann (Rod) Comried, West Liberty, Duwayne Wheeler, Center Point, Turesa (Matt Aller) Wheeler, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and Rod (Nicole) Wheeler, Urbana; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Kent (Kris) Wheeler, Missouri; and two sisters, Yvette Sawyer, Center Point, and Nan (Ed) Schmidt, Springville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Gertie Wheeler; one grandson, one great-granddaughter, brother-in-law, Don Sawyer and nephew; Kyle Sawyer.
