MARION -- Lacey Schroeder has been named director of the Uptown Marion program starting Aug. 21, leading the charge on initiatives that support the city’s growing central business district.
She succeeds Brooke Prouty, who recently left the role she filled for seven years to become a small business specialist with Main Street Iowa.
The Marion Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Marion Main Street Program announced Schroeder’s selection Thursday.
Schroeder brings experience in business development, project management and community engagement, according to a news release, “making her an ideal leader to guide the continued growth and revitalization efforts of the Uptown Marion district.”
According to her LinkedIn page, Schroeder manages administrative operations at the Cedar Rapids Community School District and has owned her own businesses, Genuine + Co., and a photography business.
She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Upper Iowa University and a bachelor’s degree in art from Bethel College. She has received the Congressional National Service Award, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities.
Schroeder grew up in rural southeast Iowa and said she has always been passionate about community development.
“I am absolutely elated to step into the role of program director for Uptown Marion,” Schroeder said. “This is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with such a vibrant community, and I am eager to contribute to the growth and revitalization efforts that make Marion a truly special place.”
In the director’s role, Schroeder will oversee the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the economic vitality and cultural vibrancy of Uptown Marion.
The news release announcing her appointment pointed to her background in project management and business development as “instrumental in driving forward key projects that will benefit both residents and businesses alike.”
“Lacey Schroeder will be an excellent addition to Uptown Marion,” Marion Chamber President Jill Ackerman said in a statement. “Lacey has a unique background, having owned two small businesses, which means she possesses an entrepreneurial spirit that will serve her well as she builds relationships with local business owners. We are excited to welcome her to Team Marion.”
