Jamey “Herb” Allan Maxfield, 49, of Robins, Iowa, passed away August 12, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held October 19, 2024, from 11 to 3PM at the Marion American Legion, 625 31st street, Marion, Iowa.
Jamey Maxfield was born January 9, 1975, to Michael and Lois (Rilling) Maxfield in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He grew up in Robins, Iowa and graduated from Alburnett High School. Jamey worked as a concrete finisher and then became a member of the Laborers Local 43 where he worked construction for 18 years. In 2000, Jamey married Jennifer Nietert in Robins, Iowa. They later divorced. Jamey was a huge Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. As a young kid, he loved the Houston Oilers and then became devoted to the Tennessee Titans. Jamey was also a fan of Nascar and Mud Runs where he would cheer on his cousins. He enjoyed deer hunting trips every December with family and friends in Hesper, spending time at the family cabin in Anamosa, fishing, boating, and floating on the Wapsi River and playing Euchre. The sing-alongs with family and friends were legendary. He always got the party started with his spoon playing skills and dance moves. Jamey’s smile was contagious, and his smirk was priceless. This big-hearted, fun-loving guy will be truly missed.
A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs, the good life I lived, when I was strong.
Jamey is survived by his two children; Houston and Kaylie, his father Mike, sister Lisa (Bill), brother Chad (Julie), 7 nieces and nephews; Taylor Marie, Austin, Taylor Michael, Wesley, Rylea, Jack, and Owen, 7 great nieces and nephews, Grandmother Marie, Aunt Nancy (Steve), cousins; Brandon, Darren, and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lois, Uncle Bobby, and his grandparents; Charles Maxfield, Joel Rilling, and Mavis Rilling.
Special Thanks to Mercy Hospital and Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy staff for their guidance, compassion, and kindness.
