Big Grove Brewery releases Hoover-themed beer for Hoover Hometown Days in West Branch

WEST BRANCH — If you ever wanted to down a drink named after President Herbert Hoover, here’s your chance.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Herbert Hoover’s birth in West Branch, the only president to be born in Iowa is getting his own beer. Big Grove Brewery’s “Thirty-One” will celebrate the nation’s 31st president.

The beer can be enjoyed on Aug. 9 and 10 during Hoover’s Hometown Days. It will be sold that weekend exclusively at Herb N Lou’s Pizza, 105 N Downey St., and The Down Under, 102 W. Main St.

The classic wheat ale, brewed in a nod to the traditional Midwest brewing style, offers a “refined, rounded flavor profile,” with notes of honey and citrus in a “balanced and refreshing taste.”
