St. Donatus
Rosemary B. Frantzen, 97, of St. Donatus, Iowa, passed away on August 3, 2024, at Stonehill Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 6, 2024, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with a Wake Service at 3:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 7, 2024, at St. Donatus Catholic Church in St. Donatus, Iowa, with Fr. Andy Upah, Fr. Mark Ressler, and Deacon Loras Weber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was born March 19th, 1927, in St. Donatus to parents Matthias and Agnes (Pollock) Herrig. She graduated from Holy Rosary LaMotte, IA in 1945. She married Orville Frantzen on September 7th, 1949, at St. Donatus Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on August 23rd, 1995.
After marrying Orville, she was a farmer’s wife and mother. After retiring from farming, they started to go to farmers market in Dubuque and wintered in Florida. She enjoyed playing euchre, making quilts, and playing bingo. She always had homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies on hand. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
They had seven children John (Jeanne) Frantzen of Dubuque, Paul Frantzen of St. Donatus, Louise (Thomas) McAllister of Dubuque, Mary (Dennis) Wymore of Cedar Rapids, Susie (Brian) Kloft of Dubuque, Rita (Joe) Liddell of Cedar Rapids, and Mike (Jackie) Frantzen of St Donatus.
6 Grandchildren, 10 Step grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 19 Step Great grandchildren, and 1 Step Great- Great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Mathias & Agnes Herrig, In Laws Joe & Elizabeth (Kalmes) Frantzen. Son in Law Thomas McAllister
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Donatus outdoor way of the cross.
