Cedar Rapids shooting injures 13-year-old
Police take 17-year-old into custody after Saturday shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 13-year-old was shot in the leg Saturday night in northeast Cedar Rapids and police arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the shooting.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at 8:53 p.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of A Avenue NE. Officers found the injured teen male, who was taken to a hospital. They also found the older teen male near the scene and took him into custody. Police did not say how they linked him to the shooting.
The 17-year-old faces charges of going armed with intent, intimidation with a weapon, unauthorized person carrying a weapon and attempted murder.
Police did not release the names of the victim or the suspect.
“Names are being withheld at this time in accordance with State law regarding privacy of minors,” a public safety news release stated.
