Professor Karen R. Dhar passed away on Saturday, July 27, in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was born on October 5, 1941, to Tom and Mary Reisdorff of Omaha, Nebraska. She studied at Creighton University in Omaha and the University of Iowa. Karen taught English literature at Creighton University and Ellsworth College, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, until 2004 when she retired and moved to Iowa City. She taught English as a foreign language to the University Women’s Social Club.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Sujit K. Dhar; her two children, Anita (Michael) Miller, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Michael Dhar, of Chicago, Illinois; and her two grandchildren.
There will be a private, family-only observation of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iowa City Animal Shelter or the Iowa City Public Library.
