Keith L. Grothe, 84, died peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Joseph Church in Hills. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Church. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hills Firefighters or Iowa City Hospice.
Keith was born to Leo and Nettie (Kline) Grothe on March 30, 1940 in Iowa City. He was a 1959 graduate of Regina High School. He married Judy Amelon on May 14, 1962. They were blessed with three loving children, Kevin, Lisa and Cathy.
After graduating high school, he became a member of the National Guard and served eight years. For a short time, he worked for Culligan before going to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation in highway maintenance. He retired as a supervisor after 35 years.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy; their children Kevin (Betty), Lisa (Leroy) Nida, and Cathy; and one grandson, Trevor Nida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Clarence and Mary Amelon.
