CEDAR RAPIDS — The left-turn lanes on Blairs Ferry Road NE onto Interstate 380 will be closed for the next three months as the bridge over the interstate is redone.
Traffic to northbound and southbound I-380 will be detoured to Collins Road or Boyson Road.
The new norm for the intersection this summer and early fall will be:
- Westbound drivers on Blairs Ferry Road still will be able to exit onto northbound I-380.
- Westbound drivers on Blairs Ferry will not be able to turn south on I-380. Instead, they will be directed to take Center Point Road south to the Collins Road interstate entrance.
- Eastbound drivers on Blairs Ferry will not be able to turn north on I-380. Instead, they will cross the bridge and take Center Point Road north to Boyson Road to the interstate interchange there.
- Northbound I-380 drivers will be able to use the Blairs Ferry exit and continue east (but not west) on Blairs Ferry Road. Drivers wanting to turn west will be directed to exit onto westbound Collins Road and return to Blairs Ferry using Edgewood Road.
- Southbound I-380 drivers will be able to exit at Blairs Ferry and turn west (but not east). Ones wanting to go east will need to exit at Boyson Road and take Center Point Road south to Blairs Ferry.
The Iowa Department of Transportation is doing the overlay work on the bridge, according to a news release from the city of Cedar Rapids. The $2.4 million project also includes DOT work at 27th Avenue SW and I-380.
