Cedar Rapids firefighters injured while fighting house fire

CEDAR RAPIDS — Several Cedar Rapids firefighters were taken to the hospital Saturday night with minor injuries, including burns, sustained while fighting a house fire.
Fire crews were called at 9:14 p.m. Saturday to a two-story house in the 2900 block of Center Point Road NE, a city public safety spokesperson said. Firefighters found smoke coming from several windows and began operations outside and inside the house after verifying there were no occupants inside.
In the course of fighting the fire, several firefighters received minor injuries and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire, which was brought under control by 9:55 p.m., was under investigation.
